Cotillion Purpose

The Precious Pearls Cotillion is a biennial fundraiser sponsored by The Ivy Center Foundation of Nashville, Inc., with the generous support of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Alpha Delta Omega Chapter. All proceeds from the Cotillion support scholarships, charitable contributions, and other civic and community initiatives. The Precious Pearls Cotillion is an elegant, cultural, and formal event in which our lovely and graceful debutantes—our “Precious Pearls”—are presented to the Nashville community. The debutantes’ families, as well as the escorts’ families, play an essential role in this meaningful cultural tradition. The evening culminates with the formal presentation of the debutantes, making the Cotillion a memorable and transformative experience.

The young ladies selected to participate engage in a series of enriching sessions designed to

support their personal development. Over the course of six months, debutantes and their escorts receive exposure to charm and etiquette training, career awareness, financial planning, character building, and social activities that promote self-improvement and confidence. They also participate in a variety of educational, cultural, community service, and social experiences that broaden their perspectives and strengthen their leadership skills. Through these opportunities, participants gain lifelong learning tools, prepare for meaningful careers, and develop purposeful pathways to success. Ultimately, the Cotillion equips them with the knowledge, confidence, and grace needed for a successful transition from high school to college and beyond.
